Happy fifth anniversary to The Clavadel!

On May 2, 2019 our friends at The Clavadel in Guildford took time out from their busy day to celebrate five years since first opening to the public; and how time has flown.
On that first day – May 2, 2014 – their first three customers had the run of the entire centre along with the undivided attentions of the 25 staff on duty (despite the reception area still being incomplete!). Yet, from tentative beginnings, so much has been achieved in such a short space of time.

In honour of the occasion, staff, patients and special guest: MP for Guildford the Rt Hon. Anne Milton gathered in the gaily decorated lounge for a drinks reception to mark the day. The minister, who was paying a return visit exactly five years to the day since she officiated at the opening ceremony, joined approximately 50 others to enjoy the delicious canapes on offer, served fresh from The Clavadel kitchen.

Many residents of The Old Rectory and The Old Hall will have experienced The Clavadel’s excellent physio- and hydrotherapy services at first hand during their stay with us and will therefore be familiar with the high standards it maintains throughout. Now, five years on, over 3,000 people have passed through its doors and plans are underway to further extend the facilities on offer to ensure patients are given the maximum opportunity for a speedy return to full mobility.

So, watch this space. The Clavadel will be around for many years to come – maintaining and building on its high reputation – and everyone at The Old Rectory and The Old Hall join in wishing them a very happy anniversary and best wishes for the future.
But, in the meantime, we’d quite like to try some of that cake, please!
