Night RGN required for Private Nursing Home in Ewhurst, Cranleigh.

The Old Rectory is a well-established family run nursing home in the heart of Ewhurst Village in Cranleigh. It is a 32 bedded home providing nursing, convalescence, palliative care and respite for elderly residents.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Night RGN to join our excellent team to assist in providing the highest quality service at all times. Shift pattern runs from 8pm to 8am with two carers.

The Clavadel

Join us and become part of a dynamic and forward thinking nurse led team in the heart of Guildford.  We pride ourselves on putting the patient and staff first with opportunities to develop your nursing career.  The patient experience is at the centre of our family run organisation and we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic registered nurse that will go the extra mile and provide seamless care for our patients.  We believe that investing in staff leads to high quality clinical care.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced Matron who places utmost importance on visibility with a strong clinical presence.  We have an experienced nursing team which includes two deputy matrons and high quality care staff with a shared vision.  We work closely with the physiotherapy team and General Practitioners to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to managing patients safely whilst in our care.

The Clavadel is a new concept in post-operative rehabilitation specialising in orthopaedic surgery and complex trauma, we also take a variety of other surgical conditions for those that require a period of rehabilitation prior to returning home.  Patients come to us from all over the country once discharged from hospital to continue their recovery in a safe and comforting environment.  Patients are here short term for a period of intensive rehabilitation which includes hydrotherapy.  The Clavadel is a unique 32 bedded purpose built unit which delivers highly specialised care to post-operative patients.  The unit offers 24 hour nursing care, physiotherapy and general practitioner support to ensure patients are able to achieve optimal independence to return home confidently.

As a night sister in our organisation we are committed to your professional development and will ensure a supernumerary induction to ensure you are supported during the transition to your new role. Our Practice Development Nurse will work directly with you to ensure you feel confident and competent to fulfil your role and to meet all of your continuing professional development requirements in line with NMC re validation.  A competency based development programme for all registered nurses and an opportunity to develop yourself with relevant courses available.  The night sister will lead a team of carers to ensure patients are safe at night as they regain independence.  The role will involve drug administration, management of 32 patients and post-operative care.  Leadership of a shift is essential and the ability to recognise a deteriorating patient that requires medical intervention.  We have developed close working relationships with consultant surgeons to ensure patients receive the care they need.

With an established philosophy of multidisciplinary working and a high level of nursing autonomy we offer a progressive and innovative working environment.  We are looking for committed and caring nursing staff that are willing to learn new skills.  Orthopaedic experience is desirable but not essential.

We can offer flexible working for up to 3 nights per week ideally Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights with competitive rates of pay.  Staff meal, paid break and company pension scheme included.  Hours of work are 8pm – 8am.  If this working pattern could suit you please get in contact to discuss further.

Duties Include:

  • Working alongside a team of nursing and carer colleagues to ensure guests have all their post-operative needs met
  • Assisting with personal care
  • Assisting with mealtimes
  • Ensuring guests are ready for physiotherapy and hydrotherapy sessions
  • Ensuring guests regain confidence to return home safely after a period of convalescence and rehabilitation
